About

Rising quietly among the outer villages of Riyadh province, Jami al Shaykh Muhammad bin Abd al Latif al Manna serves the farming settlement of Tumayr, a small community north of the capital whose wells, date palms, and wheat fields still follow the gentle agricultural rhythm of old Najd. Tumayr lies within the vast steppe country that fed the capital for centuries, and its families carry family names known throughout the Arabian Peninsula for piety, hospitality, and quiet learning. The mosque honours Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al Latif al Manna, a respected local benefactor and teacher whose lineage is tied to the scholarly households of central Arabia, where generations have devoted themselves to Qur'anic recitation, the teaching of the Arabic tongue, and the quiet memorisation of prophetic traditions.
Najdi mosques of this type carry a dignified simplicity that visitors from farther afield often find deeply restful. Thick whitewashed walls reflect the strong sunlight of the steppe, a short square minaret crowned with small arched openings sends the adhan across the settlement five times each day, and the flat roof drains clean during the brief winter rains. Inside the prayer hall, patterned carpets cover the floor, strip lighting runs along beams of palm wood, and a modest mihrab carries simple calligraphy without excess ornament. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that God does not look at your outward forms but rather at your hearts, and Najdi mosque design reflects that teaching in its calm and uncluttered character.
Friday prayers gather farmers, shopkeepers, and travellers from the surrounding roads, while Ramadan nights are marked by long tarawih recitations delivered by imams whose voices have been trained in the traditional Saudi manner. Eid mornings overflow into the courtyard, with children bringing fresh dates and Arabic coffee for the elders. Travellers on the road between Riyadh and al Qassim are welcomed warmly if they stop for prayer, and a small ablution block stands neatly behind the main building. Current daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at this Tumayr mosque are listed on this page for every resident and passing guest.
