Mosquee Lalla Fatima Zahra Mosque Lalt Fatmt Alzhraʾ

Honouring the noble daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, the Mosque of Lalla Fatima Zahra, may God be pleased with her, stands in the town of Tit Mellil on the eastern edge of the Casablanca metropolitan area. The title Lalla, used in Moroccan speech as a respectful form of address for a noblewoman or saint, reflects the deep love that Moroccans hold for the Prophet's household. Fatima Zahra is remembered as the mistress of the women of paradise, the devoted daughter whose face most resembled the Prophet's, and the patient mother of Hasan and Husayn, may God be pleased with them.

Tit Mellil itself is a growing town in the Casablanca region, once a modest village surrounded by fields of grain and orange groves, now a busy suburb linked by motorway and rail to the great port city. Its residents, drawn from across the kingdom, bring with them the devotional customs of their home regions: the unhurried Moroccan adhan, the recitation of the dala'il al khayrat, the prayers upon the Prophet offered aloud after Asr on Fridays, and the beautiful local tradition of ending each congregational gathering with a collective salawat.

On Fridays the khutbah is delivered in classical Arabic, while brief announcements in the Moroccan dialect welcome visitors and explain upcoming community events.
